Critical Precautions
- Avoid All Injury: For the first two months, it is critical to avoid any potential injury to the operated eye. This includes not playing with children.
- Emergency Symptoms: Contact us immediately if you experience a sudden decrease in vision or significant pain.
Daily Activities & Hygiene
- Diet: There are no diet restrictions, unless you are a diabetic patient.
- Bathing: You may take a head bath or shower after two days.
- Cleaning: If necessary, gently wipe any discharge from around the eye using cotton soaked in warm water with clean hands.
- Activities: Normal household activities, including cooking, are permitted. You can also watch TV and read, even with your old glasses.
Recovery & Follow-Up
- Follow-up Visit: Please attend your scheduled check-up for dressing removal as instructed.
- Normal Symptoms: Minimal watering and redness are common and can last up to 8 weeks.
- Glasses: Use dark glasses as instructed. A final spectacle correction will be provided after 8 weeks.
- Medication: Take all prescribed medicines exactly as instructed by your doctor.
A Note on YAG Laser
Approximately 70% of patients may require a follow-up YAG laser procedure at a later date. This is a common, quick, and painless outpatient treatment to address cloudiness that can sometimes develop after the initial surgery, restoring clear vision.
